My  intention for these pages is to help preserve the images of the Long Island Railroad as it exists today.  There may be those who say, "What's the big deal?  If I want to see any of what's in here, I can just go down to my local station and watch."  While that may be true, someday, what's here will be gone; too many times things are just left to slip away, existing only in our memories.  I want to capture today's sights for when they become tomorrow's memories.

My interest in the LIRR began with my Uncle Arthur; an LIRR conductor for 34 years.  These pages are dedicated to his memory.

I would like to eventually cover all of the LIRR's branches; however, I have recently moved to the Charlotte, NC area, so my ability to take new photos has obviously diminished somewhat. (At the time of this writing, all pictures on this site have been taken by me personally.)  I currently have photos of the remainder of the Ronkonkoma / Greenport Branch and all stops on the Port Jefferson Branch from Syosset through Port Jefferson.

If interested in contributing photographs, feel free to contact me at

Keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Photo size should be a minimum of 600 pixels wide

  • Since this is a non-profit undertaking on my part, I am unable to compensate for photos submitted; participation is strictly voluntary.
